the last of the 30's

In less than a week, I will be 39.

yes...I said it,

39!

And all I can think of is, "OMG!"

For me, (be prepared....I feel a little pity party coming on), this is a bit depressing.  Kinda like when I turned 25 and realized I had to be an adult.

at 39, this is my last year in my 30's.  That means only 1 year left to accomplish everything I had hoped to do in my 30s - yet have not been able to accomplish in the first 9 years.

getting to my goal weight
writing a book
getting out of debt
having kids
running for fun
taking an art class
being involved in a community charity
have ALL of my filing done

I really am not one to not be thankful for what I do have....but right now I am a bit sad....depressed....disappointed....(tear).

ok...pity party is over!  (that babble was really pathetic, wasn't it?)

I think of this verse:

Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own.  Phil 3:12

So I haven't hit my goal weight....I'm still working on it...I press toward it to make it my own....

So I havent written a book....but I've started my blog.....

I'm not out of debt....YET!

Kids..."no"...KID...."YES!"  (And an amazing one at that!)

Running for fun...(who are we kidding...is there really such thing as a 'fun run'?)

Taking an art class (yes...still want to...just need to sign up!)

Being involved in a community charity...(I'm very involved at my church and we support the community....but I need to personally get involved in something....it all starts on Nov 18th at the Red Cross Gala....we'll see what happens)

having all of my filing done...."not that I have already obtained this.....I PRESS ON TO MAKE IT MY OWN".....keep on keeping on......

I may not be driving my dream car, in my dream size of jeans, with my dream bling on my finger, to my dream vacation home.....but I am living the dream.

I have an amazing family that loves me
I have a great job that works with my family
I have an incredible church
and.....

39 years old.....

is better than the alternative.....

life doesn't end in your 30s....

it just begins!

It's up to me to determine how the next 39 years will play out....

It's a Pirate Thing...

Ahoy there Matey!   Captain Tessa turned 3 and pirates came from over the seven seas (or 3 cities) to celebrate, Jolly Roger Style!

Captain Jarrett "Sparrow" was amid the crowd of hooligans.

Pirate antics included face painting,a lunch fit for a scurvy dog and of course, cake, presents, and of course....a TREASURE HUNT!

This was truly the most adorable pirate birthday party, designed by a really cool new company, Twelve6 Design.
If you want an amazing party, event, design or anything that is different than the Tri-Cities has ever seen, give Lindsey a call - she can make magic happen!

Here are a few pics from the party.....

They say a picture is worth 1000 words....so the little collage should say a lot.

Really, I love Lindsey's style - its all of the little touches and attention to details that make great memories.  The toddler party was fun for kids and adults, something that can be hard to come by.  And, it wasn't the crazy, Chuck E Cheese or other "party from a box" ideas that so many people do.  It was original, fun, eventful, and kept the innocence in a 3 year old party.  I love it!

As said from the story, "How I Became a Pirate", that Lindsey, "She's a digger she it...and a good one to boot!  A GOOD ONE TO BOOT!"

Happy Birthday to a Best Buddy

Laiken - The Birthday Boy!
Birthdays are always fun.  They are "really, really fun" as Jarrett would say when its the birthday for your best buddy.  Jarrett's buddy, Laiken turned 4 and had the most wonderful birthday party at the park.
There was lots of swimming in the kiddie pool with friends.

Even Laiken's little sister got in on the fun.

His mommy, Jennifer made an amazing Superhero cake with all of his favorite characters.  All the boys were so excited to shout out who they liked the best.  There were PB&J sandwiches for the kids, turkey croscents for the parents,  cupcakes, presents, and more fun than can be imagined.
Jennifer is an amazing mommy and friend.  I am truely enjoying getting to know this great family more and more!

Playing on the vintage elephant slide that the city has recently restored was very fun.  There is something so nostalgic about sliding on a metal slide as your legs are burning that every kid should be able to enjoy.
There was also the rides on the sturgeon.  This thing is huge and Jarrett swears its a shark, but any fish of that size is a shark to a 3 year old.

All in all, it was a great party.
Thanks Laiken for turning 4!

Has it been this long?`

Has it really been since August since I posted last? It is now just 2 days before Christmas and the time has flown. My baby went from baby to toddler in what seems like overnight! He turned 2 in November. TWO! Can you believe it? We celebrated with all the excitment Chuck E. Cheese can muster up and it was so fun.

But the thing that has caught Jarrett's attention more than anything else is Disney on Ice. Mickey, Donald, the Cars and of course Tinkerbell still are talked about daily. Whenever he sees anything that was in that show, the first word out of his mouth is "Ice!" It was amazing as only Disney can do. Thank you to my husband's work for hooking us up with those tickets - it made my son's day.

And the thing that has caught my attention is something far less glamorous, but far more rewarding to my pocketbook. Coupons! Have they always been around? Did they just get invented? I feel almost ashamed of all of the money that I've waisted over the past years. Today, I saved $61.37 with coupons at the grocery store. And while that is great and probably the best that I've done, my friends are doing better. It's almost like keeping up with the Jones - but in reverse. There is a class that a lady in our community gives that I want to take, but my friends are now at the point that they are spending less than they are saving. Big props to Karina for saving over $97 and spending less than $89. So if you are interested, check out http://www.fistfulofcoupons.com/.

But now its Christmas and with only 2 days left, there is still all the baking, a little shopping and wrapping, and final preparations before Santa can show up at our door. So far only 1 present has been unwrapped from under the tree. Let's hope it stays that way.

Tonight, we go to visit Jeff's Grandma - Jarrett's GG. Hopefully he will perform "Away in a Manger" for her like we practiced. But when a 2 year old is the star of the show - you never know what you will get!

So my New Years Resolution (8 days early) will be to write more and eat less. Exercise? Na! - that can wait 'till 2011.
